AAMG Global Vertiport Design Competition

Designing the infrastructure for the next era of aviation

Ambitious Air Mobility Group (AAMG) is launching an international Vertiport Design Competition to identify practical, scalable and deployable vertiport concepts that will support the real-world rollout of advanced air mobility.

This is not a conceptual exercise. It is an opportunity to contribute to live projects, real infrastructure, and the future of zero-emission aviation.

Current Focus: Europe and Spain

The initial phase of the competition is focused on Europe, with a particular emphasis on Spain and the Costa del Sol.

Designers are invited to propose modular vertiport concepts suitable for a Spanish-style operational setting, with:

• an origin at a major international airport (such as Málaga), and
• destination vertiports located along the Costa del Sol, including Marbella and other coastal locations.

These locations are being used as reference cases for scale, climate, regulation and operational complexity.

Additional regions — including Japan and the Middle East — will be opened to the competition later this year.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking designs that are:

• Modular and repeatable, not one-off builds
• Scalable without demolition or major retrofit
• Compatible with early operations (medical, logistics, utility)
• Capable of evolving into passenger operations
• Integrated with zero-emission energy systems
• Sensitive to community, noise and visual impact
• Aligned with credible aviation and safety standards

Designs should demonstrate how a large, fully featured vertiport and smaller destination vertiports can function as part of a single, coherent system.

Who Should Participate

The competition is open to:

• Architects and infrastructure designers
• Engineering and systems design teams
• Aviation and mobility specialists
• Universities, studios and interdisciplinary teams

Both established practices and emerging talent are welcome.

What Successful Entrants Receive

Winning and shortlisted participants will receive:

• Cash prizes
• Recognition and international exposure
